eThe 7 Natural Wonders of the World

When considering the world’s wonders, the Great Pyramids or the Colosseum may come to mind. While undeniably sceptical, the list below recounts the wonders that Mother Nature produced at her leisure to dazzle and astound humanity at the mere sight of these miracles. Each natural wonder, from mountain summits to waterfalls, undersea wonders to brilliant sky optics, displays a distinct part of the grandeur of Earth’s natural environment.

Mount Everest

"</p

Mount Everest is unmistakably associated with some of the world’s most breathtaking natural settings. The Mount Everest is the highest mountain on the planet, standing at 8,848.86 metres. People commonly regard it as the highest mountain in the world, however this is not entirely correct. Mauna Kea is a higher mountain in Hawaii, but part of it is underwater, therefore it does not boast the tallest summit ‘above sea level.’ This is why Everest is widely regarded as the world’s highest, as the sheer immensity of the mountain and its pinnacle is much simpler to see and grasp.

Mount Everest is a Himalayan mountain range located along the China (Tibetan)-Nepal border. The formal frontier runs over the mountain’s peak, therefore it technically belongs to both nations. The English name, Everest, is derived from George Everest, an Indian surveyor. The mountain peak is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolungma in Tibet, which roughly translates to “Mother Goddess of the World.”

Paricutin Volcano

Paricutin Volcano

Parcutin is yet another natural wonder of the globe. It is a cinder cone volcano located in Michoacán, Mexico. The cone has only truly been as it is since 1943, when it erupted from the earth in a rather flat cornfield, making it the Northern Hemisphere’s youngest volcano. It erupted at the same moment it surged and continued to erupt for the next 9 years. The volcano is now considered inactive and is a renowned tourist destination. Climb the volcanic mountain to see the hardened lava flows, including the enclosed ruins of the San Juan Parangaricutiro Church.

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a spectacular canyon in Arizona, United States. The canyon was produced over billions of years by the natural erosion of rock and dirt by the Colorado River. The canyon is magnificent not just for its rich rust-red colours and the obvious layers of rock and silt evident along its cliff sides, but also for its breadth and depth.

The Grand Canyon is well called, since it is 446 kilometres long, up to 29 kilometres broad at its widest point, and 1.8 km deep. The canyon’s size is impressive, but its antiquity is much more so, as it reflects millions of years of geological history. Many people merely marvel at the scenery, but it is also possible to trek along the canyon cliff, in the ravine, or float and boat in the river below.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is one of the world’s seven natural wonders since it is the world’s biggest waterfall. It is important to note that it is ‘largest’, as these falls are neither the tallest nor the widest on the planet; however, their combined height and width (1,708 metres wide by 108 metres in height) make them larger than any other set of falls – they have the largest sheet of falling water of anywhere on Earth (especially during the wet rainy season).

The Zambezi River forms the falls, which are located in southern Africa near the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Tourists travel from all over the world to view the breathtaking natural wonder and the 500 million litres of water that cascades over the cliff edge every minute. Visitors may observe the falls from several vantage points, while more daring visitors can swim right up to the falls’ brink (in low season) and even bungee jump from the Victoria Falls Bridge.

The Harbor Of Rio De JaneiroHarbor of Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro’s harbour is located in the southeast of Brazil. It is also known as Guanabara Bay and is the world’s biggest natural bay by volume, which is why it is one of the world’s seven natural wonders. The bay is a vast stretch of water surrounded by granite rock formations and monoliths that add to the area’s outstanding aesthetic attractiveness.

Though the harbour has become a vast centre of human activity, from the city of Rio to public beaches like Copacabana and a busy harbour, the natural beauty of the bay remains, and any visitor can see that the region is a real natural beauty.

Great Barrier ReefGreat Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s biggest coral reef system. It consists approximately 2,900 smaller reef sections and 900 islands, totaling 2,300 km of reef spanning 344,400 square kilometers of water. These reefs, or reef systems, are found in the appropriately called Coral Sea, which is located off the coast of Queensland, Australia.

The reef is home to a wide range of coral, fish, and marine creatures, including plantlife and microscopic aquatic invertebrates as well as sharks, turtles, and rays. This region has traditionally been one of the most ecologically varied, and the variety of colours and life found here is astounding.

Visitors and tourists from all over the globe come to marvel at the reefs and the water life that dwells inside them, diving and snorkeling amid the coral and reef forests. Despite the fact that tourism and climate change have had a severe impact on the reef. So conservation efforts seek to maintain this magnificent and vulnerable ecosystem so that the world does not lose this incredible natural beauty.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights

As there is a natural marvel below sea level, there is also one above it, in the sky. The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, are a natural phenomenon that ranks as the world’s eighth natural wonder. When electrically charged particles created by solar flares reach the gaseous particles found in the Earth’s atmosphere, the Aurora emerges as a light show of gorgeous dancing colours – mainly greens, blues, and purples. The end product is a dynamic and awe-inspiring rainbow of shifting color that must be seen to be fully appreciated. This is a natural marvel because it demonstrates how a naturally occurring occurrence like a solar flare may result in a beautiful event on Earth.

In general, the northern lights are more visible and frequent closer to the Arctic Circle. Polar locales feature some of the most spectacular displays, thanks to the lack of light pollution from towns. However, the aurora may be seen in various nations, including Alaska in the United States, huge portions of northern Canada, Iceland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Each of the seven natural wonders provides a unique perspective on a natural event that has occurred or continues to occur on Earth. By contemplating on these miracles, we may help to appreciate the beauty around us while also marveling at the amazing natural events that occur all around the world.
